The staycation has started...yesterday we ventured out to Pontious Farm to pick some raspberries and blackberries, we also picked up a squash. Makenna had fun playing in the sand and with toys. Afterwards she went to pet some dogs, cats, horses and fed a goat. After all that work we checked ourselves out and headed back to Shampoobanana for some dinner.

Saturday we worked on fixing a squirrel hole in the fascia. Apparently the squirrels thought it was necessary for me to get a little electroshock therapy while I was up in the attic assessing the situation. I have two nice marks on my stomach from where I was electrocuted, the squirrels had chewed the insulation off a part of wire, which I layed on while getting out of a very tight space. I'm fine, other than the healing marks on my stomach. Rat devils!

Today we took back some dvds and books from the library, ate peep, rocked Curtis Orchard, and then Makenna took a nap while Brent went to the other library on a search for our house info. He did manage to find this picture, taken in 1984 of our house. I'll try to get it uploaded later, the picture uploader is having issues.
Notice the monster bushes that use to be little, you know the ones we cut down. The baywindow on the front now obviously wasn't there in the 80s. The brick foundation was painted red, there was a garage, and the front attic windows have since been replace with an old lead window. This was a real estate photo for when it was put on the market, here reads the ad: The charm and warmth of another era is recaptured in this beautifully restored older home. 5 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, fireplace and kitchen with new cabinets. Siding, roof, insulation, wiring and storm windows new in last 4 years. $51,000, then marked to $44,900.
Some new pictures are up....

Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda

I should be doing something a little more productive than sitting here at the laptop but I'm not. M is napping so I get a few hours to myself. This morning I had a pot full of dirt poured on top of me, I ate my lunch while sitting on the bathroom floor and was inadvertently punched in the face while helping the toddler off the potty. Thus the reason I was eating my lunch on the bathroom floor, when you gotta go, you gotta go, and we are potty training. Bubbles and candy later it was time for the afternoon nap. Anyway this is my justification for not doing anything right now.

This morning the Miss and I planted the pansies we bought yesterday at the garden store, that is all I bought, three packs of pansies, they were cheap, they were pretty, what can I say. Yesterday we also went to story time at the library close to us, Makenna sat next to me mesmerized by the lady singing the nursery rhymes and was too shy to make any kind of movements. Afterwards she played in the little kid area for another 45 minutes before we headed home for some lunch and snacks. After dumping about half her juice box on the floor, I deemed it naptime. Last weekend I bought one of those steam mops, I've wanted one for a good six months and decided if the entire downstairs was going to be hard flooring, I deserved one. The pricetag was really the only thing holding me back but I had one of those coupons for 20% off one item, which is a pretty good discount on an $80 steam mop. So I bought one, and I love it. I don't think the kitchen floor had been this clean since the last time I spent over an hour on my knees with a sponge and a hot bucket of water scrubbing. And anyone that has been here knows that my kitchen is tiny, and anyone that knows me knows that I only cleaned the floor like that twice while being here 4 years. Anyway the steam mop is wonderful and works so much better than the swiffer things I was using before.

Prarie Gardens had a bunch of the Christmas stuff out, all glittery and sparkle-y, that place always makes me want to buy Christmas crap...must..resist...the...urge...I have bags of brand new Christmas stuff I bought at the end of the season last year 75% off. Yes I said BAGS...no more Christmas stuff..no more Christmas stuff...is it totally weird that I am super excited about putting up lights this year?

I'm off to find something to do while procrastinating about mowing the lawn. Oh, I totally forgot to mention that the said library now carries.....cake artist studio cookies and brownies as well as cupcakes from Cakes on Walnut at the little cafe. The library is really getting up there on my list of places I could spend forever at.....

Rainin' on Sunday

It rained a little today, thus the title, and I like the song with that phrase. Ha.

I finished planting my spring bulbs today, just now, I'm not going to act like I didn't JUST finish. I planted 50, yes 50 daffodil bulbs, 25 crocus, 25 tulips (half of which I'm sure rat devils, see-squirrel will eat), some hyacinths, and some allium, I think that is it, for now. Really.

Today we ventured back to Danville, originally for a party (it was cancelled), but we were already pretty much there, so we scheduled to go to lunch with Brent's brother and wife. TWO HOURS LATER, we left the restaurant, why so long you might ask? Because it took that long to get our food....really. Afterwards we headed over to see our friends new house, this is where the party was going to be. Makenna had a nice time playing with a few girls around her age. After a visit with them it was around 4 and Makenna had yet to have a nap, we decided to head home, she left asleep on the way home.

Our staycation is coming up, not this week but next, I have no idea what we are going to do. I'd like to do a little work on the floors, but we will see what will actually happen. I've yet to pull the carpet out of the dining room and I've not been to paca to check out registers. They are only open on Wednesdays nights and Saturdays mornings (and I forgot to go Saturday).

It's rainin' men..

Ok not men but it rained cats and dogs yesterday. I think the total they gave us last night on the news for the day was 3.6 inches in Champaign from just yesterdays rain. Streets were flooded including Neil and the underpass was...unpassable, as it was totally flooded and a car was stuck in it. While we were out at the store we noticed that parking lot retention pond were REALLY FULL. We had a little bit of water in the basement but not much at all considering. It all drained to the sump pump rather quickly and the basement was totally dry by around 8 last night. Most of the water was running in from under the basement stairs...which means we'll have rip part of those up to see what is going on behind them. All in all though it wasn't bad, though part of the yard was a little flooded, it has since gone back to a normal level.

Sunday..Sunday..da da..da da da

Greetings lurkers,

friday-picked up Brent from work and headed uptown to unload some clothes Makenna has grown out of, One week boutique was this weekend so hopefully all of them were sold and we get a big check

saturday-visited with Mom and Chris, went to lunch with mom, then headed over to the One week boutique sale to get my shop on. 50 bucks and shoes, belts, training pants, a book for Makenna's leap pad, a Halloween costume (she's a bee this year), 5 outfits and a bag of tights later, I was on my way home

sunday-ummmm took a nap, after dinner went to meijer, and by the way all the people that were up my butt at meijer can go slip in a puddle

Usually we go to meijer b/c it isn't busy, today really wasn't bad but it seemed like everyone was being very pushy and were in a hurry, and being very RUDE, after almost getting hit by 2 cars on my way to returning the cart to the cart return, I was done. Maybe people were in a bad mood b/c of the weather, I don't know, they should have taken a nap, like me, haha.

Makenna and I are almost totally over our colds, still a little snotty but nothing like before. Nothing big is scheduled for this week, working on potty training. Chris will be staying with us for a couple of days and I got a treadmill, so I'll be working out a couple of times this week to break it in. Thank you craigslist. It's getting fall-y outside, yay! Cider, pumpkins, mums and campfires..here we come!

Two again..

Makenna turned two again this weekend..I think she is getting the hang of it...opening presents on her own and trying to blow out the candles. This past weekends party was a little smaller than last weekends but still lots of fun. We cheated and used the same menu as the last party, less work for us. We had our little cook out, then cake and then Makenna opened presents. She is now the proud owner a four wheeler, medical kit, moo bowling, highlights subscription and new clothes!

We don't have any plans for this week. Makenna's sick with a cold and she passed it to me too, so we are both sick. Lots of nothing, that is what we will be doing.

New photos are up, sorry for the short post, I am going to go eat a box of Kleenex.

Happy Birthday to....

MAKENNA!

She's two and I have no idea where those two years went.

This weekend was a fun one. Company started coming into town Friday night, being Brent's Dad, Saturday Makenna and I went to the pool before everyone else arrived. Around 5 everyone else had arrived and we went to dinner up north before heading to the Union for some Cosmic Bowling! I came in last place as usual but it was a great time with the black lights, fog machines, music and disco lights.

Sunday we made a trip out to Curtis Orchard for some doughnuts, pie, slushies, and the oh so wonderful Michigan peaches! Two pies, three slushies, a twelve pack of apple doughnuts, and whole peck of peaches...we were on our way. We came back home to ready for the cookout before people started arriving.

Monday morning we had a departing breakfast at Peep and discussed all the reasons why Grandma and Grandpa West should move to the Shampoo Banana area...then everyone went their seperate ways. We had a blast and I think everyone else enjoyed themselves as well.

Peace out and new photos are up!
