The bloom of 2008....the front roses went from 13 blooms to at least 40 today. That rose just loves pain, the more you cut it back the more it blooms. The backyard roses are also getting ready to bloom, BOTH backyard roses. One of the roses has never bloomed while we have been here and the other bloomed one bloom ONCE. This year the never before blooming rose has two buds and the other rose has three buds, woohoo, I must be doing something right. I cut them back pretty hard early this spring and fertilized them last year. Now if I could only get the hydrangea to bloom......hmmmm. This year I didn't cut it back to see if was blooming on old wood but the old wood still looks dead so I think not. Last year I fertilized it, and I just trimmed the flower crab apples so maybe with a little more sun it may feel like blooming.
Say hello to my little ..... Foxglove! I could resist while wondering in the great abyss of Prairie Gardens. I also bought a Delphinium Grandiflora "Blue Butterfly", it's a very pretty true blue, someone actually stopped me while I was shopping to ask what it was so she could buy one.

This weekend Brent and I did some yard work. I mowed and mowed and it was HOT, and Brent fixed the lawn mower for me, the air intake to fuel mixture need to be adjusted. Brent chopped some weeds, fed the cat, and the fish. The grass is looking really nice out front, this year we spread some sun/shade mix and it took off really well. The side yard under the tree usually doesn't have any grass and this year it is all grassified!
We don't have many plans for this week, just preparing for upcoming New Orleans. Last night we sat down with the laptop and tried to decide what it was we were going to want to do, besides eat (the best part). There is going to be a seafood festival going on while we are down there sooooo yummy for us! Actually there will be three festivals while we are down there, the seafood, the tomato one and zydego festival, so lots of food and music! We figured we'd try the zoo this year (Makenna likes the animals) and of course the aquarium, maybe an imax as well. We have a mission to ride a streetcar (I've been twice and haven't). And there will be lots of enjoying beignets....ohhhhh yes.
