Sunny Saturday Fun

Since we hadn't been to one of the big local pools we LOVE going to this year, we decided to go Friday. We got to the payment counter and big clap of thunder sounded, we turned around as they cleared the pool, and Makenna cried as we put her back in the car. Take two, Saturday afternoon we made it to the pool, the weather was wonderful. Makenna went down both the little kid slides and the lazy river did not go down the two big people slides. More pictures are up at shutterfly.

Haiku Friday And I Lied

First for the Haiku:

The lawn is very long
It will be eaten today
When it is colder

Now for regular-ness:

Yeah I lied yesterday I simply did not take annnny pictures, yep. But I did, make my wonderful tacos and Mom came and ate some wonderful tacos. I also made my fabulous chocolate chip cookies, and by 10:30 this morning had already started eating them (the bad part of baking). I also weeded the veggie boxes and some of the garden. But I didn't take any pictures and I didn't mow the yard (to be done tonight). And I would like the thank the morons that mowed and weed wacked the neighbors yard and also cut down, my three ferns, my astilbe, oh and ALL THE LILIES AROUND THE TREE, INCLUDING MY ASIATIC LILIES. Thanks. Oh and by the way YOU FORGOT TO MOW THE ALLEY, so the city will still fine you long grass, how about sticking to your own yard.

On a better note, it's Friday!

Da da da

So I know it's wordless wednesday and I will get off my rear and go take a picture of something for ya today but until then...I post.

Last night Mom was nice enough to watch Makenna for us. We went to dinner, albeit a cheap one (Hey, I was trying to stay on budget), yeah we went to Long John Silvers, stop laughing, it was good with all the greasy fried badness (note to self, go to gym). Afterwards we went to the cinema to catch a showing of the Sex In The City Movie, cause really I had to know if Big was actually going to marry Carrie...three hours later...yeah threee..I had my answer. I think the fact that it was bucket Tuesday was my only saving grace of Brent enjoying himself...and maybe the large amount of nudity, haha. And warning girls, the movie has frontal male nudity in it as well. Anywho...yeah equal opportunity employers there.

Anyway, I got a new phone on Monday, I'm now with Verizon, the phone is slick and was cheap. So if it takes me a little longer to answer, it's because I'm trying to figure out how to answer it.

Makenna is doing well, sleeping currently, I picked her up from Mom's this morning and while I was there she managed to poke herself in the eye with a corner of a box while bending over. Yeah take a second there and try to figure it out. She has a little bruise from the fiasco.

I planted some seeds yesterday, cucumbers in the garden. I also planted poppies, hollyhocks, sunflowers and sweetpeas, maybe they have a chance of surviving if the cat DOESN'T EAT THEM! Speaking of cats, we named our garden cat (she helped plant seeds), we decided she needed a garden name since she is a garden cat, so her name is Dahlia. Dahlia the garden cat. Speaking of which I ordered some new irises off of ebay while down in New Orleans and am still waiting on them, it's killing me, thus the reason I had to buy seeds to plant.

I think that is all.

Movie Monday

It's Monday.. Makenna meeting some crawfish, and wanting them to back off her plate.

On the road again...

I mean home! We are finally home! I'll tell you the more we vacation the more I enjoy being home. Vacation is great, it always is, but coming home is even better. Even when the house is a mess, I'll take all this messy space and nice outdoors-ie yard to anywhere else.

We had a great time in New Orleans, though it did rain EVERY single day we were there. We managed to be under cover/eating when it was raining. We walked the French Quarter, went to the aqaurium, saw an imax movie, walked around Algiers, took the streetcar, took the ferry, went and saw Charlotte & John, and visited the antique store I always manage to visit. All I can say is thank god for my pink crocs I took with me, I wore my leather sandals one day and regretted it.

Take a look at the pictures, they probably tell of our trip more than words. Annnd there are LOTS of them, seriously it is taking 30 minutes to upload them.

Movie Monday

In a ploy to make me take more videos...I present Movie Monday...a movie every Monday...for you viewing pleasure today we feature: Makenna eating corn on the cob and Makenna talking on a cell phone.

Enjoy! Ps-New photos are up at Shutterfly, use the link.

It has begun....

The bloom of 2008....the front roses went from 13 blooms to at least 40 today. That rose just loves pain, the more you cut it back the more it blooms. The backyard roses are also getting ready to bloom, BOTH backyard roses. One of the roses has never bloomed while we have been here and the other bloomed one bloom ONCE. This year the never before blooming rose has two buds and the other rose has three buds, woohoo, I must be doing something right. I cut them back pretty hard early this spring and fertilized them last year. Now if I could only get the hydrangea to bloom......hmmmm. This year I didn't cut it back to see if was blooming on old wood but the old wood still looks dead so I think not. Last year I fertilized it, and I just trimmed the flower crab apples so maybe with a little more sun it may feel like blooming.

Say hello to my little ..... Foxglove! I could resist while wondering in the great abyss of Prairie Gardens. I also bought a Delphinium Grandiflora "Blue Butterfly", it's a very pretty true blue, someone actually stopped me while I was shopping to ask what it was so she could buy one.

This weekend Brent and I did some yard work. I mowed and mowed and it was HOT, and Brent fixed the lawn mower for me, the air intake to fuel mixture need to be adjusted. Brent chopped some weeds, fed the cat, and the fish. The grass is looking really nice out front, this year we spread some sun/shade mix and it took off really well. The side yard under the tree usually doesn't have any grass and this year it is all grassified!

We don't have many plans for this week, just preparing for upcoming New Orleans. Last night we sat down with the laptop and tried to decide what it was we were going to want to do, besides eat (the best part). There is going to be a seafood festival going on while we are down there sooooo yummy for us! Actually there will be three festivals while we are down there, the seafood, the tomato one and zydego festival, so lots of food and music! We figured we'd try the zoo this year (Makenna likes the animals) and of course the aquarium, maybe an imax as well. We have a mission to ride a streetcar (I've been twice and haven't). And there will be lots of enjoying beignets....ohhhhh yes.
