The Eagle Has Landed....

The house is empty now. Grandma and Debbi left this morning after going to the Farmers Market and then to Peep. Mom was with us and we just returned from returning her home. I think she was excited to finally get home. It has been a crazy last couple of weeks! Today Aunt Sue is to go up and stay with Bob and Tracy. Sue had a heart attack on Friday (the same day of my Mom's surgery), she was eventually transferred to Carle here in Champaign to have a catheterization of the heart and later a stint put in.

Mom is doing well, she is barely taking any of the prescription pain relief, only advil. The incision looks really really good. The scar will definitely look better than the previous one she had from my c-section.

So all in all we are alive, but a little tired. Next weekend...New Orleans.

Home again

Mom is finally out of the hospital after being in for a few days. She was discharged this afternoon. She is now being well taken care of by us, here at our home for the time being. She is doing well.

The Surgery is done.

The surgery is done. Yay! The pathologist says he is very confident that it ISN'T cancer from the slices that were made. The final results will be in next week. So Mom is in the hospital recovering (albiet a few pounds lighter from all that was removed), all is good, now for the recovery.

Thank you to everyone who was concerned or shared concerns during this time.

The Dread

of the upcoming Friday. It inches near. Mom is finally having her surgery to remove the mass on her ovary which was found a couple of months ago. First found by CT in the emergency room after being in so much pain she couldn't stand it anymore. She was sent home with a prescription for painkiller and a "diagnosis" of it is most likely cancer.

Only by biopsy will they know for sure. A few days later we went to Christie to see another doctor only to be told about the same thing, by the way Dr. King sucks, scheduled an ultrasound for a MONTH later. HELLO, since when do you tell people that they probably have cancer and then make them wait a month to get a better look at the mass. Nothing new came from the ultrasound, the Dr. wanted to refer us to an gyno-oncologist, which Champaign doesn't have one, so in Indy, Chicago, Springfield. She didn't want to do the surgery and felt that if it was cancer than Mom wouldn't need two surgeries this way.

After waiting a few days for this referral I persuaded Mom to get a second opinion over at Carle with a new doctor, a set of fresh eyes. She went to pick up her records from the sucky doctor at Christie and to her and the receptionists surprise, there were none, sure there was bloodwork, there was her ultrasound but records from the two visits with the doctor, nothing. She called Carle, two weeks later she was at her appointment and her surgery (laparotomy) was scheduled for the week after. This doctor isn't as sure that is cancer like the others....so friday.

So we are crossing our fingers...as I for one have dealt with enough cancer in the family to last a lifetime.

It's a sun shine dayyyyy...

Ok not today but this weekend was.

Friday, get haircut, go to Lowes and spend too much money (happens every time, I blame noxious fumes). Go home and start packing for Saturday, change mind about 10 times on what to wear to wedding, dress, pants, dress, pants. Go to bed.

Saturday it all started with getting up early so we could round up everything that needed to come with us as we were making a trip to Indiana to see the Grandparents, and then later to Danville to Megan's wedding. We ended up getting to Indiana a little later than anticipated (20 min. late) but had a wonderful time visiting and eating! Leave with more than we arrived with. Speed on over to Danville to arrive right on time for said wedding, sit in second row. The mini goes off to play with Brent during some part of the wedding, vows start as my cell phone rings....yeah I was THAT person, I NEVER GET CALLS, let alone while someone is saying their to never be said again wedding vows. Later apologize TONS to bride and groom, who tell me they didn't hear it, still feel crappy. Eat food, cake, chocolate...the mini runs around and tries to take a sip of Grandpa Wagner's beer. Finally I'm totally exhausted so we leave. Come home, change, crash.

Sunday we all fresh with lots of home improvement stuff; see Friday's activities. I sand and paint the chapel door, yellow, probably not the best color, I vow to wait a few days before deciding to paint it again. I also paint the back door, yellow. Chop down some volunteer trees. Feed cat & fish, pet cat...success. Brent meanwhile finishes painting the soffit & crown, then starts the tear down. Squirrel nest crap all over the front porch later, reassembly starts, with added insulation.
I change clothes to make a run to the mall (I was forced....but while I'm there), used my new victoria secret coupon, haha! Back in time to hear mini wake up.

Garden things are growing, so far nothing has ate the peas or bell peppers, about to plant some spinach, iris are blooming.

Friday Funnn nessss

Because these make me crack up every time I see them, I share:

Really if you haven't seen the movie, go rent it.

AND:

I also forgot in the last post to mention last week while picking up trash in the yard I came across a plastic bag. Plastic bags in the yard are a common occurance BUT me thinks the neighborhood has turned around because it was a PRADA plastic bag. Really prada.

Soooo....it's sideways

but it's a video none the less. Makenna at a park here in town, going down the slide.

This weekend was a nice one. Brent got up early to head over and help Ryan and Heather move. Around 2pm he got home and after some lounging we headed to Dos for some mexican goodness. Sunday we went to church, grabbed some lunch and then went to Lowes for some home improvement (ehhh, and gardening) stuff. After too much money later we headed home to put some of the new merchandise to work. Ie-my new plants. New creeping phlox, peonies, and I staked one of my clematis. Last night we put together my compost bin (ie-free pallets from the newspaper, screwed together). I got a new rose a couple of weeks ago, it's a light purpley-silver color, it's sitting in a pot right now, while I ponder where I should put it. Speaking of roses, the HUGE one in the front is...HUGE...I finally pruned out most of the old wood b/c there just isn't enough room for it. Really...it's taking up TWO trellises and reaching for the third.

Mom is on her way over so we can work on the veggie garden boxes! Wooohooo! I need to take pictures. The blueberry bush is doing well, though I've not seen much from my raspberry bush, and the squirrels think it's fun to dig up my strawberry plants.

Yesterday we saw some people taking pictures of the house on the corner, I think they are about to list it. Annnnd, last week a group of U of I students toured the big house, the next day the for rent sign was taken down. So it seems we will have some new neighbors, our age, girls and guys. It's a little exciting. I know I'm a dork.

New photos are up!
