Hot vinyl on a Saturday night

Eat in Chicken-Kitchen

Some photos of the kitchen progress: Antique glaze, I was only going to the pinstriping but Brent liked the all over glaze look, so I did both. After painted green:

Drying after the first coat of poly to seal it:

Might be laying the vinyl this weekend too.

Last but not least Makenna after playing with a tube of sunblock: Yep, that took a lot of shampoo get out...
.

We're sick, all of us. Brent stayed home from work today. The hit by a truck kind of sick feeling, although I'm the only one that's freaking nauseous as well. Makenna did go to preschool today, she came in our room about 2am because she fell asleep at about 4:30pm the day before. At 2am I had just fallen asleep, then I had baby feet in my back, and a cat on one of my feet...I had a hard time sleeping between all that and a stuffy running nose and chapped lips.

We picked up our estimate from Homerdepot today, looks about $2500 including the kitchen and bathroom downstairs (vinyl). I hate spending money. Hate it. Especially large amounts, yes I realize it's more than half the house that would get done. I also don't want a cheaper carpet than the one I chose, so the $2500 is what we'll spend. I guess they don't want us to remove the tackstrip when we remove the carpet so that will make our jobs really easy! I would have stayed at homerdepot longer but I was afraid I'd puke in an isle somewhere. Did you know they don't charge tax on carpet...neither did I.

Makenna brought home a monkey in her backpack today, totally random, that will have to be returned to preschool tomorrow as that is where it should be.

I have all but one assignment for the week done. I have yet to finish reading my geography chapter, as well.

I turn 26 in a few weeks, I think being married, having a house, and a kid just makes you feel old. Though I can't imagine my life any other way. Brent says he's going to buy me a book about proper comma use, lol, I make him read assignments and discussion posts, to make sure I've used my commas correctly.

1. I lurrrv the library and the wifi there. Tuesday I set up shop there to do some homework assignments without a dog chewing on me or something in the house, it is so quiet and bright there.

2. School is going well, the semester shouldn't be too hard, next thing I have due is a quiz on Wednesday. I need to chill about a writing assignments for my classes, I am apparently going wayyyy above and beyond, go figure.

3. Took the dog to petsmart yesterday to get some new toys, she can chew like a mothaa- and most of her toys were played out. Too much money later...

4. I think I'm almost 100% positive on the color of carpet I want, looking at a dark chocolate brown. The sample we have is really nice, so luxurious, silky smooth, cozy comfy, cuddly. My dark brown towel is my favorite, brown is also a favorite of mine, and the last time we looked at carpet we choose the same dark brown. Ps- Freaking annoying, the amount of beige carpet...really do we need 52 colors of tan. My choices for the carpet we picked out 52xbeige, 1 color of grey, blue or brown.

5. Still haven't decided on what I want to do for the stairs. Carpet at $8 a stair plus supplies or refinish them myself and get some carpet stair treads. I'll save $200 doing it myself. BLAH!

6. I wish I was laying on the beach in a bikini today. Maybe some tanning bed love will fix that. Or new shoes. Or both.

Life updates

1. Makenna has started another round of swim classes and was lucky enough to have the same teacher that she loves again. She seems to be enjoying preschool, they sing songs, do art projects and all the fun things that you remember from preschool days. I enjoy some me time, do homework or just sit and enjoy QUIET!

2. My classes started Monday, looks like it will be a pretty easy semester. Last night I dropped my intro to religion class so it will be even easier. I signed up for another class in place of it so I am still full-time. The religion class was going to be wayyyy more work than I wanted to put in and the first reading we did was horribly horribly written, and the teacher likes that writing style, I'm not down with that. So I need to send my THREE books for that class back, yes three, all my other classes have ONE book. This was also the class that the teacher didn't have it all together, information was all over the place and he was simply unprepared. Not ideal for a work at your own pace internet class. And he teaches philosophy..enough said. You have no idea how unburdened I feel today after dropping that class last night.

3. Our Christmas tree is still up, maybe this weekend I'll have the gumption to take it down.

4. I got a new phone with a Christmas gift certificate, it rocks, I can sync it with my outlook calendar on the computer and it reminds me of homework, and when to pick up and drop off Makenna for preschool, sweet! Yesterday I bought a wifi card for it off ebay..oh yeahhhhh! This way when I take Makenna to the library I can surf the web using the library's wifi!

5. I really need to put away laundry today and working out is also up there on my list...and tanning. Seemingly very superficial, the tanninig, but it relaxes me sooo much, I don't care about the tan, but my body cares about the vitamin D and the warmth, better than taking a bath.

6. Speaking of bath- Yesterday I got my package from Lush that I ordered after Christmas with some Christmas gift money. They had a buy one get two free sale going on. I got a bunch of bath bombs, a bubble bar, a bar of soap and a shampoo bar, they also sent me a few extra samples of soap. So after my package arrived, I haaaaad to take a bath, it was nice..though most of the products kind of smell the same and they smell kind of....earthy? I spent $30 and got quite a few things, do I think it was worth it, yeah. Would I order again? Ehhhh. On the plus side my shampoo bar has glitter in it, glitter makes me happy.

7. We went bowling last weekend with Mom and David, I bowled a couple of really good games. Afterwards they went home and we took Makenna blacklight golfing, she loved every minute..expect the golfing part, she was all about the art.

8. We still have quite a bit of snow on the ground, it is still in the pretty state. The new tires we bought for the car have been nothing short of AWESOME in the snow and on the ice! Before New Years Chris installed our new HID bulbs and the new headlight leveling sensor, so those have been working properly ever since, yay!

1.New photos are up on the photo site.

2.They consist of the Christmas parade, last weekends busy weekend, and putting up the Christmas tree.

3. Last weekend we did a bunch of nothing Saturday morning, drove to Indiana Saturday night (so didn't have to get up at the butt crack of dawn to drive to chruch). Sunday-church, Christmas at Dads, Dinner theater thingy, drive home. Monday- Drive to Bloomington and back, then that night go to dinner with Grandparents and I went with Grandma to Annie at the Assemb. Hall.

4. Waiting for UPS packages. Hopefully usps gives me my package with nail crap in it. I did my nail yesterday but they look like crap!

5. Should get my new headlight bulbs today that I ordered off ebay. The dealership can suck it at $175 PER BULB. I got a PAIR off ebay for $60 shipped, not including cashback. really.

6. Ordered my new sensor part yesterday from a dealership in Florida for more than $100 less than the local dealership wanted to sell it for. really. Decided to just order the part, that way I don't have to dick with it anymore. Funny part is I could have gotten away with just manually adjusting the headlights before but now the sensor is partially working so that wouldn't work now...

7. Makenna had her preschool holiday party yesterday, they sang some songs and then got to see santa and get gifts. After that we munched on some grindage..

8. We have tickets to see Cirque du soleil in March, whoot!

9. Can't believe Christmas is next week! When are we gonna get some snow!?

Why we are not getting a..

Family photo taken for Christmas this year.

I tried, I really did. I got Makenna all dressed up, hair done. I had my dress on, makeup done, hair done. Finally got Brent dressed, bugged him to shave, even though he was in a less than desirable mood.

He mentions it will probably be busy, I don't agree, since I've never taken pictures the weekend of Thanksgiving...

We walk out the front door and it starts raining. The mall is packed, so we have to park a ways away from the front of the photo place...in the cold rain. We walk into the photo place and it is packed. I figure it's fine b/c it is only 1pm and they close at 7pm. Brent asks..nope..no availability until the next day they are open. Yay.

Fine. Whatever. We walk down to Sears to see if they have any availability. They do, we fill out some paperwork and get right in. The lady wants to take some pictures of Makenna first..even though it was made clear WE ARE HERE FOR A FAMILY PHOTO. One shot is taken and Makenna starts crying loudly. And by this time her face is bright red, spotchy and snot is running down her face. Makenna later told us the lights from the flash scared her.

No amount of toys or bribery can stop it. She continues to cry, while I continue to pull photo props out, tring to get her to stop. The photo lady stands there...and then asks me "Is she an only child?". I stand there and look at her, thinking WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH IT?. I tell her yes and she nods... My other thought is "no, we left our other child at home for our family photo." , ANYWAYS...

Makenna is still crying when we leave sears, me walking about ten feet in front of everyone else. She cried all the way to the car. We came home and I put on pajamas. THIS is why we are not having a family christmas photo taken this year. I give up, I tried, it wasn't meant to be apparently..
