Behold The Power Of.......

SECONDHAND baby!

This is my new stove!

It's wonderful, we were living in the dark ages. And by that I mean we didn't have an oven light in the old stove. This one has an automatic light, OOOOooooOOOOO. Speedbake feature, TWO racks, digital controls for the oven, AND I can lock the oven so I don't have to worry about Makenna pulling the oven door open. Anyway, it's great..I love it...end of discussion.

By the way Hillary got SPANKED tonight! Go Obama!

Dental Update

So we took Makenna to see Doctor (that is what we call our dentist) and everything is ok. They managed to fit us in the very next morning! Her tooth isn't bothering her and doctor says to just keep an eye on it and she may loose it a little prematurely but it really isn't a big deal. She also said that when Makenna gets a little older if we want, she can use some bonding material and shape the tooth so it looks a little more normal. She was also nice enough to tell me a story about how she was watching her nephew and he smacked his eye on a planter and got a huge black eye. As she says "sometimes it just happens". Yes, that is why we go to doctor! We also have Mom and Chris going to doctor too, so they have the whole family now. So anyway just a major plug for Baytowne Dental & Dr. Hick!

Not too much is new with us! Yesterday Makenna and I visited with Jessica, a friend I have know since grade school. She hadn't seen Makenna since my welcome baby shower! We had a great time chatting and catching up!

We don't really have anything scheduled for this weekend. Ohhhhh, I lied, I get my new stove tomorrow! Yes, finally. You see my current stove came with the house and it works just fine...but....the numbers on the temperature knob for the oven have worn almost all the way off, the original knobs for the burners are gone and we have some crappy knobs to replace it (and only three at that), annnnndddd I only have one oven rack (one!). So I deserve a new stove! I thought about just buying new knobs and a new rack but I'd spend like 100 bucks...so I am just getting a new one. I know you say 100 vs 500 bucks? Ahhh see I don't like to buy new and I found a five year old frigidaire (that's the brand we have now) on an online classified soooo it's only $225, the current owners just upgraded to stainless steel haha! I've seen pictures & it's pretty! So tomorrow we go pick it up!

Can anyone else believe January is almost over!?

Worst Mommy Of The Year Award.....

Goes to me. So Makenna and I are playing...I am chasing her when she takes a face plant right into her potty. There's blood...a fat busted lip...snot...tears...and a chipped front tooth. DOH! Great... now she gets to look stupid with a front chipped tooth til someday when she's 6 it falls out. So we'll make a dentist appointment for her to make sure no part of the nerve is uncovered..I'm sure it isn't, she isn't in any pain. After about thirty seconds of crying she was over it. I however will be traumatized forever and feel guilty every time she flashes a smile my way. Ahhh, motherhood.

Pictures of the craziness: First Fat Lip, Next Chipped tooth

As always leaving on a happy note, you can see one of her new teeth coming in (does that make up for the bad news post?). Some new pics are up.

Well...Well..

So last week Grandma Helen came and spent the night at our house for the first time. She was on her way back from North Dakota and since the train station is just down the street and she got in late we picked her up! I believe now she is in Florida, busy woman!
Brent and I went to the new library, we've been twice now (I've been three times, but shhhh!). It is quite nice and huge! They have self checkout, a cafe, lots of furniture to get comfy and read on. The little kids section is bigger now and has more toys, score! Makenna enjoys going to library and playing with other kids at the lego table, though she stops playing every couple of minutes to make sure that you are still watching her. The last visit Makenna was watching people walk up stairs through the glass. She would run away when people would try to touch her hand through the glass.

Friday morning I have an appointment with my oral surgeon again. I have a bone fragment that is sticking out of my jaw and is causing me some pain, so they can remove that for me. Stupid wisdom teeth. Brent and I also have appointments set up for next month for yearly physicals with our new doctor (we are switching to Christie primary care physician instead of using Provena). I am going to finally break down and get a prescription for my migraines. The over the counter meds I use now are becoming less effective and since they have caffeine in them cause problems when I need to sleep. So....and I'll have my cholesterol checked again to see if I managed to lower it the 30 points that I needed to. Yep it was high again, my triglycerides were high in 04, then managed to level them out and now I have high bad cholesterol...uhhh.

Leaving on a high note, this weekend is a three day weekend! Whooo hoooo! And it is suppose to snow!

Let there be light!

This is our new light fixture in the living room. If everyone remembers before we had no wiring for a ceiling fixture, so we had to work with a few lamps. One outlet is connected to a light switch so with some fanangling (sp?) we put a plug on a hanging fixture, whhhhaaaa-laaaa.

We bought the light fixture from the trusty home restore (ie-second hand but habitat for humanity gets the money when we buy stuff), can't beat $25 bucks for a spiffy decorative light! We ran to Lowes today for the light supplies and did a bit more holiday shopping at Target, because the holiday stuff was 90% off. You just can beat Christmas cards for 60 cents! No other news to report at this time.

A year in review....

This is a video of Makenna telling Chris and Lara off:

All the family has now left, Grandma Cathy flew out of Willard this morning. I want to thank everyone for all the wonderful gifts and and all the help everyone contributed while they were here! Hopefully everyone enjoyed their time here.

After recently talking about going to the family reunion in Pennsylvania in July and about how we are going to New Orleans in June and also Chicago in March Brent and I agreed no more trips for this year.

All the traveling talk got us thinking about all that we did this past year! We went to the West reunion, Ottawa Canada, Niagara Falls, Chicago for a few days, and Orlando Florida. Whew, a year for traveling!

We also were thinking about all the stuff we had done around the house. We replaced the roof, cut down all the front bushes, painted some of the outside of the house, painted two rooms inside, refinished the hardwood floors in two rooms and just recently replaced two fluorescent light fixtures.

So I suppose that is our year in review!
New Pictures are up at Shutterfly.

And A Happy New Yeaaaarrrrr!

Welcome everyone to 2008....lordie!

The holidays went well for us, with Cathy, Darrell, Chris & Lara coming down (and up) to visit with us. Last Sunday we did the West Christmas, pot roast and all. It was a little rushed with Darrell needing to leave at 4pm but dinner was had and present were opened (without Makenna though b/c she was napping). Last night we had a roast chicken for dinner and Chris, Lara, Brent & I went to see a movie at the Savoy 16 while Grandma West babysat Makenna and did a little bit of work. After the movie we came back to the house to get our drink on and celebrate every New Years we could find on the tv. Today Mitzy came over and we all went to lunch at Biaggi's. As of right now Chris and Lara are napping while the rest of us wait anxiously for the Rosebowl to begin! We did manage to watch a little of the parade this morning and saw the Fighting Illini Marching Band play. Go Illini! Makenna is wearing her Illini cheerleading apparel today.
